Questions To Ask When Hiring Movers

When it comes to hiring movers, it's important to ask the right questions to ensure a smooth and stress-free moving experience. Here are a few questions to consider asking before making a decision:

Are you licensed and insured? It's important to make sure that the movers you hire are properly licensed and insured to protect yourself and your belongings in case of any accidents or damages during the moving process. Also note that to move customers out of state a company needs to be licensed to do so with a Motor Carrier (MC) number. So for example, we hold licenses from the State of MA for in state and the Federal Dept of Transportation for out of state moving services as well as a Contractor License from the State of MA.

Can you provide references? Asking for references from previous customers can give you an idea of the quality of service you can expect from the movers. Don't be afraid to follow up with these references to ask about their experiences. I would encourage you to not take my word but to find sources NOT provided by the company themselves. This can be done by vetting the company on Google or local Facebook town sites, for example. Your best recommendations will always come from people you love like your friends and family.

How do you handle valuables and fragile items? It's important to know how the movers plan to handle your delicate and valuable items, such as antiques and artwork, to ensure they will be properly protected during the move.

What is your pricing structure? Be sure to understand the pricing structure of the movers you are considering and ask about any additional fees that may apply. All pricing should be completely transparent and written down.

How do you handle disputes or damages? Ask the movers about their process for handling disputes or damages that may occur during the moving process. It's important to know that you have a clear plan in place in case something goes wrong.

My favorite question to tell people is to ask a company about their competitors. You can learn a lot if you ask about another company and then see how the person reacts. We have tons of amazing moving companies in the area so if Im badmouthing another company there's a great chance I have MY best interests at heart, not YOURS. The truth is every company has strengths and weaknesses and Husky Moving is not always your best option.

By asking these questions, you can make an informed decision about which movers to hire and have peace of mind that your move will be handled professionally and efficiently.
